5th MSF - Registration

The 5th MSF is an all-day event. All Alumni Association members are expected to attend the General Assembly on the second day, which is scheduled to be finished before noon.

Free shuttle service to/from the airport (requires 24-hr advance notice of airline and ETA via phone or email; see above). Alternative transportation is available by taxi at approximately $25 (will not be reimbursed by JSPS).

Presentation options:
There are two options for alumni to present their research, a talk or a poster (3 x 3.5 ft max). To sign up, review the information below and submit the provided form. Submission deadline is in both cases October 1st, 2014.
Note: The presentation of research findings is not required to attend the MSF. Attendees preferring not to present their data at this time simply register as "Non-Presenter". Further details are provided under the Registration Section below.

Distinguished Speaker Nomination:

Alumni wishing to nominate a distinguished US or Japanese speaker should submit an Invited Speaker Nomination Form. More detail on the nomination process and the form itself can be downloaded here.
Deadline for Japanese speakers: 12 September 2014.
Deadline for US speakers: 30 September, 2014.

The registration deadline of October 3rd, 2014 has passed. Please contact Tim Devarenne for further questions.

Step 1: Fill out the Online Registration Form (link now removed).
(This is necessary for all attending Alumni Association members, whether they give a presentation or not)

Step 2: Pay the Registration Fee (using the PayPal button below).
To participate in the 5th MSF please select "Regular Registration" below and click on the "Pay Now" button. Graduate Student Alumni Association Members wishing to participate need not do this step since their registration is free.. For all others, the cost is $50. Registration covers the following:
  • Access to all MSF sessions
  • Accommodations: Night of November 6 (Night of November 7 is to be covered by the attendee at $120/night)
  • MSF Banquet Dinner: Evening, November 7th
  • Air Fare: For those requiring financial support

All registered participants will be contacted by the JSPS travel agency via email approximately 2 weeks prior to the event to complete their hotel reservations. Each participant will be provided with one hotel night; the cost for the second night has to be carried by the attendee ($120 + tax). As noted above, it is expected that all attending JSPS-US Alumni Association Members also participate in the General Assembly on the second day, so each attendee is effectively required to assume the expenses for the second night.

Those requiring financial support for the air fare have to indicate the same on their registration form. The travel arrangements will be made at the time when the registrant communicates with the JSPS regarding the hotel reservation. The agent will prepare a sample itinerary according to the participant's needs. Shuttles to and from the airport are the responsibility of the participant. Reimbursements or alterations of existing reservations are not possible.
