Reports about the most recent Seminar Program events have been posted on the JSPS US AA Seminar Program 2019 (2nd application call) page for the two awardees:  Dr. Christina Laffin, Associate Head, Department of Asian Studies, University of British Columbia, and Dr. Anthony J. Tosi, Associate Professor , Anthropology Department, Kent State University.

Seeking new member for the IT Committee of the US & Canada JSPS Alumni Association

The IT Committee of the US & Canada JSPS Alumni Association is seeking applications for a new member of the committee to assist with alumni web site support. The new member must be a JSPS Alumni Association member from Canada.  More information about applying can be found here: Request for Applications.

Review of applications will begin on February 21 and will continue until the position is filled.  This is a volunteer position and no financial compensation is provided.

The JSPS Washington Office has announced the awardees from the 2nd application call of the 2019 year JSPS US Alumni Association Seminar Program.  We offer our congratulations to the following AA members:

JSPS US AA Seminar Program 2020 (1st application call)

The JSPS Washington Office is pleased to announce the 1st application call for the 2020 year JSPS US Alumni Association Seminar Program. This program was established for the members of the US JSPS Alumni Association to support academic seminars organized by Association members to promote the objectives of the Association. 

We are now accepting proposals for seminars to be held between June 2020 and September 2020. 

The deadline for application materials to be received by the JSPS Washington Office is February 21, 2020.

Announcement of the 2020 BRIDGE Fellowship

The JSPS Washington Office has officially announced the 2020 BRIDGE Fellowship.

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) provides opportunities for overseas researchers who have conducted research activities under JSPS International Fellowships for Research in Japan or other JSPS programs to come back to Japan to create, sustain and/ or strengthen research collaborations with Japanese colleagues. The objective is to build strong networks among researchers in Japan and other countries through a variety of activities. These include former JSPS fellows visiting their past host institutions in Japan, or coming to Japan to plan or implement joint research projects and seminars, to offer training or lectures for young researchers, or to prepare or attend scientific conferences and research meetings.

The 2020 BRIDGE Fellowship application deadline is January 10, 2020.
